Before you begin your studies, you'll first have to arrive in Malmö! You have several options for travelling to Malmö, including planes, trains and driving.

By plane 🛫

Best airport: Copenhagen Airport (CPH)

Other airports: Malmö (MMX), Stockholm (ARN), Gothenburg (GOT)

The nearest major international airport to Malmö University is Copenhagen Airport (CPH), which is only a 20-minute train ride away from Malmö. There is also the much smaller regional Malmö Airport in Sturup (MMX), but very few flights operate out of it, so it will likely be both cheaper and easier for you to fly through Copenhagen instead.

There is also the large international Stockholm Airport (ARN) as well as the Göteborg Landvetter Airport (GOT) in Gothenburg, but flying into either of these airports would require an additional lengthy train ride or connecting flight to Malmö, which is why the majority of our students usually arrive through Copenhagen Airport!

By train 🚆

Nearest station: Malmö Central

Other stations: Malmö Triangeln, Malmö Hyllie

Malmö's main train station is Malmö Central Station, also called Malmö C or Centralen. It is also the closest train station to the university's main campus (the Orkanen, Niagara, Student Union and Student Centre buildings). If you are travelling from within Europe, you will likely be able to find a train to bring you to Malmö Central Station.

The two other major train stations in Malmö are Triangeln, close to our university buildings for the faculties of Odontology and Health and Society, as well as Hyllie, both of which you'll pass through before reaching Central Station if you're arriving from Copenhagen.

By car 🚘

Via Denmark: Öresund Bridge

Via ferry: Trelleborg port

If you will be arriving to Malmö by car, you will likely pass through Denmark over the Öresund Bridge, the same bridge used by trains that connects Copenhagen to Malmö. The bridge charges a toll of 445DKK (about €60) for standard cars, and you can find pricing information or even pay your toll in advance here.

Otherwise, if you are travelling by ferry to Sweden, the port through which most ferries arrive is Trelleborg, about a 30 minute drive from Malmö. You can find information about ferries through Trelleborg here.
