The first thing you'll need to do before you can begin your studies at Malmö University is to order your computer identity and your multicard. We recommend doing this even before you arrive in Malmö, so you don't need to wait for your card to be created and mailed to you during the start of your studies.

Computer identity (computer ID)

Your computer identity is a 6-digit code that is used to log in to university web services. It is composed of two letters followed by four numbers (xx1234). It does not function as an email address, but instead is used to identify yourself online, functioning as a username when logging in to pages such as Canvas.

Ordering a computer identity

You will need a computer identity before you will be able to get a multicard. To order a computer identity, visit Malmö University's IDService webpage and enter the same email address that you used when you applied for your studies. Your computer identity will then be sent to your email.

Multicard

Your multicard is the ID card issued to you by the university that can be used to access university buildings, check out books from the library, and copy and print with the university's printers. It does NOT function as valid student identification outside of Malmö University. For forms of student identification that can be used outside of the university, see our student discounts page.

Ordering a multicard

As soon as you have a computer identity you will be able to order your multicard. You can order your multicard by logging in to IDService with your computer identity, selecting 'multicard' and following the instructions.

Delivery of multicard

Once you have ordered your multicard, it will be mailed to you about 5-14 days later. You have two options for where your card can be delivered:

Your address in Sweden, if you know where you will be staying and have the ability to receive mail there

OR

The Reception at Niagara, so you can pick up your card when you visit the university if you do not have the ability to have it sent to a Swedish address

Multicards cannot be delivered to addresses outside of Sweden.

PIN code

When you order your multicard, a PIN code for the card will automatically generated. This PIN code is used to access the university buildings outside of regular opening hours, when you will need to first blip your card by the door and then enter your PIN code.

You can view your current PIN code as well as change it to a new one under 'Manage your card' on the IDService website.
